Question

Can anyone please tell me how many burger or french fry (you know like McDonald's) restaurants there are in Dhaka... Also, some of the names of these bigger places? Is burgers and french fries in demand by the younger population in Dhaka now... Does anyone know why McDonald's is not in B-desh????

I am in NJ, U.S. right now.. and I have a project due in two days requiring all this information. I am JD/MBA student.

Thank you so much,

- Adnan

There is a demand for Burgers and French Fries. All sorts of Fast Food are in demand.

Well known place: Sauslys, Coopers, Hot Hut, Sticky Finger, Haelvatia, La Bamba, AFC, Golpea Burger and there are loads of other ones.

As for Franchises like MacDonald not coming, Bangladeshis(ones living abroad) have to take the initiative to get them there. None have done so, atleast for the US ones. I believe Sauslys is German and Golpea is Japanese.

Hope that's helpful.

Thumbs up something else

What about the conditions in B-desh, can anyone attest to those things? how would Mcdonald's do if they go to B-desh... who would work there? people would pay...

what about the political conditions for B-desh.. would that hurt a big corporation like McDonald's? Thanks again.

If I could have your full name, and your location, that would be very nice.

sincerley,
Adnan (NJ.-U.S.)

McDonalds would have to do their Market research and decide on everything.

There are areas which would be able to sustain Macs. Have to open it there.

At Haelvatia, the Broast (Roast, Fries, Buns) is 200 Taka, about $4 US. That's a lot of money for Bangladeshis but it is successful. Also, the food ingredients, labour etc are much cheaper than in the West.

As for McDonald its a franchise so I think it would depend on the individual branch and owner on how well they run it.
Pakistan has been able to sustain and condition as far as I know are similar.

A Macdonald there would be for the higher middle class, growing rich, rich groups and I don't think an average people would be able to afford it. So the day we see McDonalds at every mall is not yet there but definitely one or two in Gulshan, Banani, Uttara, Dhanmondi is possible.

My location is Vancouver, Canada. I like using my knick, so name email me if you really need it.
