Bangladeshi food is not shutki and maas alone. You cant discard dhaka out of the map. What old dhaka has to offer if not considered Bangladeshi then those tanduri and jalfreji can no way be indian. We all know Indian means vegetarian.

There is a dhakai paneer. People out of dhaka may not know about it. Its expensive and can be found in new market. Its very much similiar with the lebanese halloom cheese.

There is Dhakai NESHESTA Halwa made out of sujee I could find it nowhere. But I found it in the lebanese store but the name is different "Turkish delight". Indians knows it as karachi halwa. Some karachites introduced it to india and fed Karachi name.

Our KALEEZA SINGARA, chiken samusas, MUGHLAI PAROTA are not known to the avg public.

Indian calls everything samusa with vege inside. But this time I found dhaka has changed a lot. I could no where (in the place I was living)found kaleeja singara. People are adapting snadwitches and vegetarian samosa. Looks like a trend from India by watching Zee Tv.

How many Indian restaurant knows what is Tehari and Shahi rezala? Bnagladeshis should introduce their own food, use own name. Or all restaurant owner should pay a visit to old dhaka and copy the menu, take training. Shutki can be menu choice to the people likes anchovies-fav to Italians.

Oh my God Shumon, you just took the words out of my mouth. You are like a psychic or something. Prolly they want to earn money by calling it a Indian restaurant because if they call it Bengali restaurant, people gonna be like, wtf is bengali? you know what i'm saying? I suggest one of the people in B.com to make a Bengali restaurant and actually call it Bangladeshi restaurant. It is a challenge.

We might as well callit sylheti cuisine rather than bangladeshi cuisine Lolz afterall, dhakias did jack sh/it apart from sitting on their lazt fat arses...well, that's where the argument was headed right?

no english person can differentiate between us and indians ok? To them we have the same dirty brown s.hit features so nothing is new there...!

Read my post on what's bangladeshi on the open board.

We have no real social identity(which we must create our selves-not india or anyother country-people...etc.), once we obtain that, bangladeshi will be bangladeshi...and nothing else. But our country's a young entity, so that takes time...and businessmen are just that....they're in to make money, not to represent, you know? Start doing it your self, and others will follow...be real. Hindi suck---Joy Banlga! all day too me.

peace

Here's ya answer (I read it in an article way back):

People when they here India are gonna think of tropical beaches, lovely weather, monuments etc...

But when people here Bangladesh they think: floods, poor country, mud etc...

Therefore by associating the restaurant with india gives it positive vibes instantly... maybe if they were to sell it as Bengali Restuarant they can make a good impact while reppin bangladesh.
