Cool

Since Jamie Oliver got involved schools have pledged to cook healthier meals. Everyone seems happy about this apart from the children. I forcast masses of waste, disgruntled dinnerladies having to deal with tantrums and whingy children.

Replacing the chips with jacket potatoes will probably be a popular choice because theres a lot of tasty fillings you could eat with them, but as for the rest of the food, cauliflower cheese, plain boiled white rice and lentil korma etc hmmmm watch this space.

If it means that we produce a nation of lean and healthy adults then I'm all for it. Would you really want to live in a country where people can't work because they were so fat? The guy who is the current fattest man in britain can't even tie his shoelaces and hasn't been able to for many years. Something has to be done before things go too far.

If you think thats too much to stop our kids getting fat, I read somewhere the amreekans have something called fat camp where kids are sent off in summer to try and loose weight.

They sure do....but I think good habbits should be taught at home

If you are not shown the benefits of eating healthy from a young age by those who apparently care for you, I dont think many of us would go out of our ways to adhere to a healthy lifestyle....It seems that most parents opt for the easy option by giving their kids a few pounds to go out and buy junk instead of cooking their kids a wholesome meal

Anyway...I sure hope the government can keep this idea of healthy eating in schools going....kids at school nowadays can be extremely hyper and restless after they've rammed junk and sugar down them which isnt ideal for good teaching or learning

Both the schools and the home should teach that vegtables don't bite. I am up for the new school dinner scheme and I think once the kids learn that they cannot have chips all the time and that different vegs aren't as nasty as they think, they will get used to the healthy lifestyle.

Tantrums and riots, perhaps they will happen for a few weeks, but English schools have a serious problem and the food at present is horrible (never tasted, just seen the programme with Jamie O)

its starting from september 2006 isnt it? thank god i will have finished by then even the vending machines at school are going!

seriously though, i think people will just walk down to the local chippy or newsagents down the road if they cant have junk at school. i know i would. and i think most people do eat healthy at home so eating a bit of crap at school aint no biggy...

Hahahaha.... you're kidding. Look at how alot parents are neglecting their kids. Think of the typical White people from council estates. They can't get things like teaching their kids that crime is wrong.

Sheffield has one of the highest car crimes/uninsured drivers in the country. There was a program where parents we're saying that it was fine for their kids to steal cars, "just youngsters having a laff" apparently and that cops should go easy! So how do you expect such people to teach their kids about healthy food. Most of those parents won't even know themselves.

Nationwide tantrums and riots at schools? That will be quite funny actually.
