Need to learn to cook..AT LEAST rice and dal!

Hey everyone..I have NO idea how to cook bangladeshi food...and my poor husband...suffers for it! lol I am an American..we were just married about 3 months ago. His family, except aunts and uncles, have totally disowned him, so I have no one to show me how to cook! With the exception of his cousins mother, who lives like 2 hours away. Please if anyone can give me some hints on some food..ANY FOOD..I would love it..and he would greatly appreciate it too. Thanks!
