eating with hands

How many of you eat rice and curry with your hands.

i am physically incapable of doing that..... my dad had industrial injuries to his right hand so had to eat with a spoon cos he lost some fingers..... that was before i was born..... as he brought us up, we all ended up eating with spoons too. i seriously dont know how to eat with my hands as a result. when we go out to eat at people's houses, i have to ask for a spoon, and they look at me like i am a freak!

oh well.... at least i dont have yellow finger nails!

have a bit of a problem if i go to one of those weddings that dont provide cutlery though!

It's easy enough to learn to eat with your hands! It's a Bangali social convention-so get with it. Just use your fingers to make a nowla and into your mouth. It's easily done.


Don't you mix your rice 'n curry with your fingers?


Yeah, sorry to hear about your dad. My father occasionally
required the aid of a spoon as well, due to arthiritis.

rice mixed with your hands does taste much better... i still sometimes steal mouthfulls of food from my mum cos the way she mixes it up makes it taste so much more delicious! YUM!

i can eat with my hands if i try really hard, but it takes a lot of skill man..... i look like a 6 year old whose just learning to do it on her own so i'd rather not show myself up and just use a spoon instead.... it takes expertise to know how to roll the rice up properly.... and how the heck do you drop it into your mouth so easily?

when i try to eat with my hands, i just end up chasing the rice round my plate and looking like an idiot trying to get it into my mouth! takes ages to finish.

and anyway, i'd have to cut my nails off if i started eating with my hands on a regular basis.... the feeling of rice grains and curry stuck up your finger nails aint nice... and it takes an age to wash it off properly! like i said, i prefer having white fingernails, not yellow!

i eat with my hands, its pretty simple unless your a 2 year old kid


good fing bout eatin wiv ur hand is, u can mix the curry n rice like asb has pointed out and also, how can u break da pieces of meat from the bones with a spoon...or worse if ur havin fish, and u dont find the gossa...u'll get it stuck in ur throat

Me and my mommy always use the hand like Bengali people. I learnt it when i was small. i cant eat proerly without fingers.we only use sppon and fork when we eat at restaurant or eat out.

anissa its ok to eat with hands because my nails ares not yeallow even if i eat with my hand. so you should learn that or people wiull say bad thing when you eat with other people.

I eat rice with a fork!

Perhaps my sis n I are "angreez" as my dad points out sometimes to show his annoyance when he looks at us eating! Anyways, we usually use spoons at our house, but then again, we don't eat rice every day

Have had this thingy with my other half as well coz he insists on eating with his hands, which is totally cool with me- as long as I can use a fork or spoon.
Once he came over with rice and curry and wanted me to use my hands too, I rufused and he ended up feeding me- with his hands
We went to this fancy rest a few weeks back n he ate with his hands while I used a spoon Funnily it did not bother me that we were in a public place n he used his hands, all I thought is the man is eating, let him eat the way he likes

But I have heard that people say that the meal is tastier when you use your hands. I just think that it is a matter of preferrence
