ive heard something about us being able to eat haram meat in western countries as well..... is that true? personally, i dont really eat meat anyway, so I dont really care about that stuff. would be happy living life as a veggie (with a chicken meal say once a week) I though mokru food was things like crab, lobster, prawns etc: ie things that arent quite sea food. |

i think the halal / haraam ruling is mainly on mammals dat we can eat. i fink sea food and birds come under mokru rulings, along wiv things like hutki and ciggarretes etc..

Chicken is not mokru, if its slaughter meets the Islamic standards. Kosher meat is as good as halah meat. There is no difference between the two slaughter methods. All you have to do is say "bismillah" when you eat it (well really you should say bismillah when you eat normal halal anyway). |

Sea food is HALAL. Any animal that lives 100% of its time in water is halal. Cigarettes are HARAM. Just because it is a widespread problem, it doesn't make it halal. I'm not going to start preaching everyone give up smoking, but I think you should know what you do. If you are still prepared to carry on smoking, then thats totally upto you. Like I've said, I'm not religious. But I don't want people to do stuff wrong if they aren't actually aware of it. |

im sure i read sumfin like dat sumwhere.... i dont just make fings up cos they sound good. cigarrettes are very debated but they are mokroo. there is currently no fatwa ruling on the subject forbidding it. the arguement goes that because it is an addiction/ damaging to health it is forbidden, but its also noted that the shisha/ hookah were around durin the prophets time and there is no hadith statin that the prophet forbids smokin or even encouraged smoking.
