Tommy Miah’s Recipe of the Raj

Eminent Bangladeshi-British super chef Mr. Tommy Miah celebrated publication of his book of cuisine "Favourite Recipes of the Raj" to mark the Golden jubilee of Queen Elizabeth at a local hotel last evening. The queen has written the foreword to the recipe.

With Home Minister AVM (retired) Altaf Hossain Choudhury as the chief guest, the function was addressed by M. Nasser Rahman, MP.

Describing Mr Miah as the very special Bangladeshi envoy to the United Kingdom and a hero in his own right, the chief guest spoke very highly of him adding that the nation is very proud of him. Mr Chowdhury revealed that the great artist of culinary art, Tommy had planned three humanitarian projects, namely, a cancer research centre in England, a diabetic clinic at Moulvi Bazar, and a flood shelter at Patuakhali.

Mr Mia, who is a celebrity in Britain and other countries for his tasty Bangladeshi and Indian cuisine, sought good wishes from his fellow citizens.

The function was rounded off with dinner.

Mr Stewart Guinea, managing director of Abela Airline Catering which sponsored the dinner, also spoke on the occasion.
