A world politics forum would be nice. Many things we discuss in the religious forum or Bangladesh politics forum make more sense to be in the a seperate World Affairs or Politics forum. The Current Events forum would have done but it is linked with events in Bangladesh.

Good idea!

Before we add new forums, we like to have the opinions of many of our members. Would you please start a similar thread in the Politics or Religion forum? If the response is great, then we will gladly add this as a forum of its own. If there are few interests or replies, then you are welcome to continue discussing this topic in one of the other forums.

Please follow up with me here, or via email. Again, great idea Mhnew! Thank you for making this suggestion!

All the best,

I don't wish to be breaking ranks with my two excellent moderator colleagues....so consider this as merely raising an issue for consideration.

My worry is that if you completely separate politics from religion - then that might be seen as distancing religion and politics when the two should be interrelated - a point which I feel that both of you agree on.

Having said that - there has been an attempt to smuggle in bi-partisan [views biased according to the party one supports] political views into religious forum - rather than to consider the issue from a wholly Islamic point of view.

But I also know this forum - and even if a new World Politics category is introduced some threads in religion are still likely to stray into "politics" when necessary. So whatever decision is taken, I would suggest that it would not be a radical move that members should be upset over.

Therefore on this matter I am prone to abstention - sitting on the fence basically.

But now you raise the issue - can I stretch the discussion further: recently when we have sought to discuss Islamic issues (being the faith of most members of this forum) - it has often upset or raised negative comments from the Hindu members of this forum. So can I ask what you guys think about having a separate Islam / Hindu / Christian forum??

I will add that I am not totally in favour of this - I can see clear disadvantages - but I am hoping that you guys can put a good case for the disadvantages - that way I am convinced that it's not a good idea (alternatively you could persuade me that it is a good idea ).

[I think I've taken a great deal of time and effort to say not much - i'm sorry ]

In this way than there should not be such a thing as religion forum cos religion should be interrelated with everything…every part of life……and hopefully ppl will agree with that…
“if theres banglasedhi politics why cant there be world politics?”

and speaking form eh little experience from religion forum I had over last couple of weeks/months!!, when it comes to politics things get nasty as it happened couple of time and more to come (hopefully not).. so if there a separate forum for world politics and I think the stress might be reduced from the religion forum….

.Therefore on this matter I am prone to abstention - sitting on the fence basically.
Tight koria dorouka..sa-sa pori zaina zanooo

Might be good idea as for the present idea but I doubt the separate religion will stay in separate forum… thers is bound to be some islam_hindu_Christian dialogue….
Let me put that in that way “ and even if a new islam/hindu/chirstian category is introduced some threads in one religion are still likely to stray into "other reliigon" when necessary or unnecessary.

I disagree with seperate forums for seperate religions. Would not work.

If there are any issues that are borderline well it could remain in Religion. But many things should probably be discussed in World Politics. As I said before Current Events could have been used but it is linked exclusively to bangladesh.
