"Salam to everyone",
Being a Bengali girl myself,i understand how much the word "IJOT" means to me.its something we should think twice about before doing anything thats against our culture and most important out of all is our religion. We can buy any item if we've got the money but nothing can replace "IJOT".
Once it goes,it's gone forever......

If you want to make any comments about this then please feel free to....

love you all!

A very poignant point which you make. Good on you.

As I'm not as well versed in poetry as most bengali's are preoccupied with I cannot come up with a similar ditty.

u've not defined 'ijot', if it means respect others have u, which is the closest i can come to definiting it, i disagree, it;s not gone for ever, u can earn respect, gain it back by correcting ur mistake.

thanks for the opinion!i still reckon once the "ijot" goes, its gone forever.yeah i understand that when it comes to a person making mistakes, you'll only learn by actually realizing what you've done but it still isn't the same.
let's be more realistic,shall we....
1)When the issue ends up being about RAPE then im sure we all think the same.we dont turn around saying"everything will be ok as long as the rapist learns from his mistake" because we all know when the victims "ijot" has gone,it cant come back..,no matter how the rapist feels or says.

2)When a bengali girl runs away, the first thing the parents tend to say is "manshe kita koibo".i totally think that thinking about the society is wrong but perhaps its true in one way because if we're going to live in this society then obviously they are going to point fingers, lets get back to the point....no matter what happens in this girls life, she'll always will be classed as "loglagri"!

There are so many ways of losing "ijot" but i suppose the matter becomes more serious when you actually take the risk of losing is...
for instance rape isnt done by the victims choice but where as running away is the persons own decision....

keep on writing about your views,

"love you all"

However these are all relative terms. What may seem totally outrageous to one person may be seen as fairly moderate to another. Even if both have strong religious beliefs.
