Does anyone here know what is the current technology infrastructure like in Bangladesh. What I am interested to find out is that are there any opportunities to develop projects in Bangladesh on a joint venture with US based firms. The key concern is that are there expertise in Java based technology, in XML and in developing wireless software solution using various tools and platforms.
Thanks all. Zak Mir New York, NY |

There are plenty of programmers of all kinds in Bangladesh and more (the recent job losers in the US) are likely to migrate back to Dhaka. Java programmers and MCS Engineers are working in Dunkin Donuts these days but that's another story! What Bangladesh needs right now is Internet Engineers/experts.
Bangladesh badly needs highspeed Internet connections. Current ISPs are still fooling around with the analog dail-up (POTS) connection and the max. bandwidth they provide is 28.8 Kbps. Most people in Bangladesh use Internet to check the E-mails only. You can just imagine how painful it is to surf the net with that speed, forget about hosting a website. So if you want to do tech business with/in Bangladesh, please try introducing Digital or wireless connectivity to Bangladeshis. People are gonna love ya! Pir Saheb |

Thank you so much for responding. I am happy to get at least one feedback. As much as I would like to think we are a progressive society, I often get slapped by reality to see that people are more responsive to other discussion groups such as dating, and personal adds. I have been shocked by the response for the technology item.
No one has any interest in things that are beneficial in self development and to our society at large. Anyway, I do appreciate your feedback regarding this topic. Should any thinng develop I will post it here. Thanks. Zak Mir |
