Assalam u Alaikum,

Is there a way by which we can judge by inspecting an IP address the location of a certain computer? I'd appreciate any help rendered in this regard.

u can probably track it down to a certain area rather than a pin pointed location.

In short MaKe_iT_LEgAL is right and bit wrong too..

Infact there is 4.2 billion total IP address that are available in the world and the IP address you are connected at a moment is not assigned to any other person.

The ISP and companies are assgined some FIXED chunk of IP addresses (like Class A, B , C etc) and they randomly assign you any IP address (from their FIXED set of IPs) when you connect to them.

So your IP address will be different at different times depending on the IP address your ISP had assign to you using DHCP.

But what someone can get from your IP address is that what ISP you are connected or what company you are in. Thats it ...

Now the ISP keep log of the IP address they give to different users at different times. So suppose FBI want to find you after you hack CIA ...

Then they will visit your ISP with your IP address and ISP will see their log and from there they will be able to find yours UserName and they will have your billing information (which will have your personal data in it) ....

So then FBI will be at your door step..

And It is easier to find someone if he is not using some ISP but using company assign chunk of IP address....

And If I go to ISP with your IP address and ask them about you then they will not give me any information so you are safe.

IP address can be faked and also ISP can be Hacked ... just kidding ..
