SAM stands for Security account Manager so "SAM contains the user accounts database of information about users & groups & provides user validation services.(passwords and stuff)" It stored in the registry under HKLM\SAM... Check web site like http://www.it.kth.se/~rom/ntsec.html put some searches on googles on NT server and Security account Manager.......... ![]() I also suggest you to get the window nt server or window 2000 server book. ![]() ![]() As a matter of fact... tis for Network Admin purposes. Most courses I go to always mention SAM... and I get confused between User Manager for Domains and SAM.

Sorry for late reply . I think SAM is like a table or file where our login and password and some other stuff are saved. User Management for Domain is some thing high level a GUI interface...... Yes I think User Management is interface for SAM database but I am not sure ... I do not know much about the subject as this is not my field. I am more a software engineer working in Java , C/C++, EJB, XML, OOA/OOD and other related stuff/technologies ... Faisal Aslam [Edited by Faisal_Aslam on 28th February 2001 at 03:34] |
