Assalam-o-Alliakum
I recently find my new job it is my 3rd company in 3 years of my practicle work experience so I think that is market these days. JAVA: Java Market is goes down a lot in last 3/4 months after the collapse of dot coms. But still it is not difficult to find job in Java. And there are too side in Java 1) Server side programmers 2) client side programmers Server side is more challenging and got more salary there (I am server side programmer) a good skill set much have Java, IBM Visual Age, XML/DOM, OOA/OOD, Rational Rose, UML, Oracle/SQL, Java Servlets, JSP , and most important is EJB (Enterprise Java Beans) Client side required Swing/AWT, HTML, Java, XML etc etc ... I will advice you to get Sun Java Certification. C/C++: C++ market is not in a decline (unlike Java). And it is still booming. I find lot of jobs on Web and job fair of C++. But mostly Networking companies like CISCO and Hardware companies like Intel and Telecommunication companies like GTE required C++ programmer. There is less Application development in C++ these days. So more job in C++ is for System programmer, driver programmer, Networking programmers etc etc... I think there pay is still less then Java programmers but if Java market keep declining then soon they will be getting higher payes then Java programmers.... If you have any other skills. like Microsoft COM/DCOM, VB, VB script, people soft, SAP etc etc then still you can get a good job but I think market of these things are in decline and more jobs are for above two categories I define.
