Java servlets are extremely specialist at the moment - I'd be absolutely amazed if any free hosts had support for them and it'll be prety tough finding a commercial host - although there are probably some out there (at a nasty price).

If it's just for development, the best bet would be to install something like Tomcat on your PC and use that - if you want to host a live site then ur gonna end up shelling out qutie a bit of money.

Tomcat is available here: http://jakarta.apache.org/

Even http://www.jboss.org also provides tomcat.
There are many sites whice provide free spaces for your web site. Just don't u try with them, in the mean time if I get any information I will surely provide u.

There is a huge lot of coding required for writing a servlet. Why don't u go for JSP ? And if u r goin for transaction then in servlet u need to take care of connection pooing and so many other factors , and the only option left is EJB.

Thanks for reply ...

I do not think that is Servlets you have to right huge amount of code. Just have to write few (3/4) methods like dopost , init etc ...
In servlets you can maintain a better design as this is a class.
JSP are recmemded when you have more HTML and very less Java code other wise it is difficult to maintain a good OOD in JSPs. As JSP are plain file (not a class)...
Remember when you compile a JSP then compiler convert it into servlets and then compile .....

Yeh! to some extent you are correct but its not necessarily that JSP output should have too much of HTML.

Its a one time conversion from JSP to servlet after that its the class file which is called.

Anyway, depending upon your requirement u can decide the technology.

Faisal, I am looking for the free hoisting website to put on servlets, as soon as I come across I will let u know. Even I am lookin for the same.

Do u know anything about "Netscape 6".
