Cable company Telewest is to offer the UK's first three megabit broadband service.


In a shake-up of existing services it will speed up all its broadband products by 50% for free.

Rival cable net provider NTL is also doubling the speed of its broadband services at no extra cost.

It is part of a fierce ongoing battle between internet service providers to win customers to their high-speed net connections.

Telewest will upgrade services at the end of May.

The three megabit service will offer speeds up to 60 times faster than traditional dial-up access.

People on the 512Kbps Blueyonder service will see speed increase to 750Kb.

yesterday a ntl man came to sell us free internet broadband apparently

soon as i heard he had a freshie accent, i just became like a bastard to him

his goin on about "u got internet?, pay £16, but we give to you for free"

i was like ...i aint interested, nor is anyone else in this household, dont even bother sending any letters


then he thanked me for my time, gave me a dirty look, n walked off

i havent got a problem with freshies, he jus annoyed me, i told him were not interested, yet he still felt the need to tell me about wot his offerin, dats wen i realised he was a freshie by the way he spoke in broken sentences, i would have responded in the same way wether they spoke fluent english, jus coz i mentioned he was a freshie, doesnt mean i was tryin to say i singled him out for abuse

i wasnt defending 'white tax payers' i was defending tax payers in general.... there's plenty of white english people out there who commit benefit fraud and i think they're just as bad as any other person be they black or asian who do do the same.


in any case, the man you referred to was out making an honest day's living. if he was a guy who came here and sat on his arse whilst claiming benefits that he wasnt entitled to, then fair enough, be rude to him.


but as far as i can tell, this man was out working. there was no indication he was doing anything dodgy.


you cant compare a freshie that comes here to do benefit fraud, with one who comes here to work, which is what the man was doing when he rang on your doorbell.
