Was in Dhaka on Vacation until 10th of Jan. Went there after 2 years.
No of cells (cell phones, mobile ) has increased drastically. Went to ComputerCity. Nice, a good start. New food place : Halvaetia and Sticky Fingers. Ate at both. The broast is good at Haelvatia and the Kebab at Sticky is awesome. Pollution is widespread. It really hurts your eyes to travel on the Baby Taxis now, even on Rickshaws. However, there are Luxury AirConditioned Buses spreading all over the place. Has gotten more crowded. One good thing: people have given up on Politics. They don't have any hope or belief in the political system. Also, religiousity and indo influence both on the rise.

Was in Dhaka in 96-97. Made me a bit depressed. I mean, I was expecting it to me crowded and a bit rough looking but I wasn't prepared for how filthy some parts were. I can understand why a lot of people are moving to the northern suburbs to escape. My family lived in Dhanmondi but they had to move out because it was getting messed up. The mosquitoes are a nightmare too, (but I guess that's the same all over Bangladesh).
