This is a throwback to the old days when every family had its resident barber cum chiropodist. It was a job that was passed on from father to son and in the large joint families of yore the barber was a busy man indeed!

New Archeological Sites Discovered in North Bangladesh
The northern part of Bangladesh has several archeological sites of repute. Many date as far back as 2500 BC. Buddhism was widespread in the north of the country and many artifacts relate to that period in history. Mohasthangarh is one of the more popular sites in this region. It is among the oldest sites in the country and is believed to date back to 2500 BC. This ancient archeological and historical site is situated on the western bank of river Karatoa. It is located about 18 kilometers to the north of Bogra town.

As in so many other countries around the world, Bangladesh as been caught in the grip of Pop Idol mania. It is the first time that Bangladesh has screened their version of American Idol, and a very talented Nolok Babu has the nation in celebration at his proposed victory on 22 December 2006.

The Untapped Potential of Jute
Jute has traditionally been the biggest cash crop of Bangladesh and has been used for making rope, sacks and carpet backing for decades. The industry unfortunately went into in a decline with the advent and rampant use of synthetic substitutes. Jute is a natural fiber obtained as an extract from the bark of the jute plant, which reaches its full growth within three months of planting.
